Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl and is a chance for everyone to get to know fellow bloggers and share lists. This week’s topic is libraries/bookstores I’d love to visit.
There are a few real-life libraries I wouldn’t mind wandering through, but I decided to list the fictional ones I’ve drooled over. I didn’t make 10, so here are my Top Five Fictional Libraries.
The Beast’s library, Beauty & the Beast
Has to be top of the list, really. Just look at it! The whole thing is absolutely gorgeous, and then there are all the books! As wooing gifts go, I would have been charmed and the Beast wouldn’t even have had to be a prince.
The Library, Doctor Who
A planet-sized library with every book ever written, what else is where to say? Well, there was the small matter of the Vasta Nerada; microscopic, flesh-eating beings that could turn you to bone in seconds. Maybe if I caught them on a good day…
Sunnydale High School library, Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Okay, I have to hold my hands up and admit the draw here isn’t exactly the books. Librarian Rupert Giles is as attractive prospect as all the supernatural texts he supplied for the Scooby Gang. I’ll pass on the Hellmouth, though.
Hogwarts’ Library, Harry Potter
Talking of magical texts, there’s none to compare to Hogwarts’ Library. I am curious though – can there be that many books on magic and mythical beings to fill a library of that size? And if not, what other texts do they carry? I’d love a wander through to find out!
Hologram room, Stargate Atlantis
The hologram room on Atlantis could access the city’s systems to give real time information, and also held all the historical documents of the city. A bit of a drain on power – and the interface is super annoying – but the holographic representations of the galaxy were very pretty.
If you could visit any library in fiction, which would it be?
