Crochet was a craft I admired but never tried for a long time. It was buying Knitting & Crochet magazine and seeing a pattern for an elephant that pushed me to try. I picked it up really quickly and fell in love with the craft. It was so much faster than knitting!
I used several yarns since learning to crochet, but my favourite by a long way are those by Stylecraft Yarns. I have enough of their Special DK to open a yarn shop (which I did, but it didn’t last.) I love the range of colours and how it feels on the hook – a lot of acrylic yarns can be squeaky – as well as the fabulous stitch definition.
A couple of years ago, Stylecraft released Batik DK, an acrylic and wool blend with a lovely heathered look, and it fast became my favourite of their yarns. It’s designed for crochet, so it doesn’t spilt on the hook and produces a gloriously soft and warm weave.
Since the release of Batik, Stylecraft have introduced the yarn cake Batik Swirl DK and Batik Elements DK, which is a short repeat print. As both yarns uses the same colours as the main range, it means they can be swapped and changed to your heart’s content!
I am absolutely in love with Batik. It so easy to crochet with and the results are SO pretty. It was my first choice for the Indian Summer CAL, as I think the tones work brilliantly with the theme.
What is your favourite yarn?
