The British Tag

The British Tag originated over at Beauty Crush and, seeing as I was in need of content (hey, I’m being honest!), here are my answers to some very important Great British culture questions.

1. How many cups of tea do you have a day? How many sugars?
I fail at being Quintessentially British by loathing tea. I can’t even stand the smell of it! I’m not a big drinker of hot drinks – I’ll have a hot chocolate if it’s really cold (or I’m very sick) – but that’s about it.

2. Favourite part of your roast?
The roast! I love cooking and I excel at roast gammon in particular. Though I’ve never roasted a full chicken/turkey…

3. Favourite dunking biscuit?
Milk chocolate covered digestives are my Achilles’ heel.

4. Favourite quintessentially British pastime?
In danger of making myself sound like a right anorak, I have a passion for steam trains and engines. So going to steam shows. (I’m not quite at the point where I write down train numbers!)

5. Favourite word?
Bollocks. Sorry.

6. Cockney rhyme slang?
I’m a Lancashire lass, so I’ve very little idea about Cockney rhyming slang. Apples and pears is stairs.

7. Favourite sweet?
It has to be Jelly Babies.

8. What would your pub be called?
The Nissed Pewt.

9. No.1 British person?
Helem Mirren is my queen.

10. Favourite shop / Restaurant?
Chopsticks in Swinton. Buffet-style Chinese that’s cheap as chips and absolutely delicious.

11. What British song pops into your head?
Being from Manchester, it has to be Champagne Supernova by fellow Mancunians Oasis.

12. Marmite?
In small doses. Yes, I am the weirdo who like Twiglets. Bite me.

What are your favourite British things?

  1. I have to admit to being an avid tea drinker. I also like a bovril at bedtime which means I must be getting old! I love the name you would give your pub! #keepingitreal

  2. Hi, it did make me laugh to read that someone else’s favourite word is bollocks! I love the way it rolls off the tongue… The word that is!… Go on admit it, you do have an anorak, secretly stuffed to the back of your cupboard… My British thing has to be a slight obsession with the weather and a nice cup of tea!

Thank you for linking up with #keepingitreal.

  3. Being American, I’m not sure I understand everything you said… What is a jelly baby? 😳

Love delicious biscuits and tea! Yum! Steam shows sound fun too! 🙂
