The Winter Tag

I found this blogger tag at Ashley Writes and thought I’d join in with answering the questions. I’ve pasted an unanswered list at the bottom if you want to give it a go.

What are your favourite things about winter?
Dry cold days that are perfect for walking! I missed out last year, as I was laid up with a slipped disc, but I’m hoping to get out for a few walks over the next couple of months.

What is your favourite winter outfit?
Jogger bottoms and knitted sweaters. I’m quite vulnerable to the cold, especially if I’m stationery, so I layer up and often have a hot water bottle to hand.

What is your favourite winter food?
Chicken soup. It has to be thick and it has to have chunky bread on the side.

What is your favourite winter drink?
I don’t really have hot drinks unless I’m very cold or sick, but I do indulge in the occasional Irish cream.

What is your dream way to spend a winter’s day?
Going out on a country walk with my husband, then returning to a slow cooked dinner and something cheesy on TV.

How do you like to do your makeup in the winter?
I’m not much of a makeup girl. I tend to shy away from it because I wear glasses, but I’m trying to push myself past this. I have my eye on a glittery eye-shadow pallet and some bright lipsticks.

What are you hoping to get for Christmas?
A motorcycle! I know it probably sounds odd, but I’ve been eager to take my A1 test for ages and upgrade from my little 125cc to something with a bit more oomph.

What are the first three things that remind you of winter?
Bare trees, frost on the grass, and dry, chapped lips!

What is your favourite winter song?
First “Christmas” song that gets played on my iPad is The Fairytale of New York. It’s such the antithesis to all the plasticity that surrounds Christmas and the New Year. Kind of Christmas punk.

What is your favourite winter memory?
Last Christmas, the first with my first grandchild.

What is your favourite winter scent?
Orange and cinnamon. They have to go together, to balance each other out. I also love the smell of cooked stuffing. Hmmm.

Finish this sentence: If I could have one wish this Christmas, it would be ______.
Health for my family. My Dad and two sisters all have cancer, and I’d love them to be in remission.

Ugh, that was a lovely thought to end on! Let’s cheer things up with the question list. If you decide to do this tag, please drop your link in my comments and I’ll come say Hi!

  1. Winter is definitely my favourite time of year! I hate the heat – it makes my anxiety flare up massively – so Winter is definitely my time! I love wrapping up and going out for the day when it’s chilly.
